Özet |
This study aims to provide details about the appearance, style, and distinguishing characteristics of the old wooden homes still standing in Kastamonu today and to investigate the role played by roof form drawings in creating the city's distinctive architectural style. The roof components of 26 historically significant, high-quality timber mansions in Kastamonu province's center were evaluated in this regard. When the roofs of the mansions are inspected, there are hipped roofs with two, three, and four surfaces, hipped roofs with eight cruciform surfaces, and hipped roofs with lanterns, and all of them have the characteristic of snap roofs according to their geometric form. It has been established that roof components, including rafters, purlins, pillars, buttresses, and breasting, use flat and lap jointing. Additionally, it has been noted that distinctive elements like overhanging, fringe embellishments, and cihannüma have become increasingly prominent. As a result, the roofs of old wooden mansions were analyzed in terms of technique, visual appeal, and utility. These roofs are crucial in defining Kastamonu's architectural identity. |
