| The activity of translation is a challenging and complex activity that enables the transfer of meaning from one language to another. Literary translation is one of these areas. This situation can be understood more clearly when considering the wide spectrum of literary works, including social, cultural, historical, and many similar genres. Translation of literary works requires more than just translating words, expressions, sentences into the target language. At this point, the translator is responsible. The translated literary works play the role of conveying the plain meaning and enable the target audience to learn about different cultures. From this point of view, translation and culture cannot be considered separately from each other. In addition to mastering the source and target languages, the translator should also be familiar with the culture of these two languages. There are specific strategies and methods used in translating cultural elements in translation. In this study, it is aimed to examine the translation of cultural elements in literary works." Treasure Island", written by Scottish author Robert Louis Stevenson, was chosen as the source text in translation analysis. In Stevenson's" Treasure Island", the strategies and methods preferred by the translator for translating cultural elements and translator decisions in Turkish translation are discussed. Samples related to domestication strategy were taken from the source and target text and were analyzed comparatively.
