| The rapid development of science and technology, the easy accessibility and widespread use of devices such as mobile phones, computers, tablets, which enable people to easily access information and socialize, have determined people's priorities and preferences, and human needs have changed in this direction in the 21st century. Curriculum has been updated in parallel with the changing human needs. It is important to what extent digital competencies are reflected in the updated programs and textbooks. Digital competence, which consists of the sum of several skills in itself, can be briefly defined as the ability to use information and communication technologies in a safe and critical manner. The aim of this study is to determine how much digital competence mentioned in the 2019 Turkish Language Curriculum is included in secondary school Turkish textbooks. The study is a survey model, one of the qualitative research methods, and document analysis technique was used to obtain the data. The obtained data were interpreted by content analysis. Although digitalization and digital competencies are mentioned in the updated programs, it has been observed that digital competencies are not sufficiently included in the textbooks, and digital competencies in a small number are related to digital literacy and digital security, and other sub-skills are not mentioned except for a single text. In particular, the Covid-19 epidemic, which is one of the biggest epidemics in the world, and the subsequent realization of education have shown that individuals who can use digital technologies are more advantageous than those who cannot.
