| This study which dealt with the economic contributions of the University of Kastamonu to Kastamonu Province was designed as a descriptive screening model. The universe of study consists of the employees, budget expenditure and revolving fund of the University of Kastamonu, including student spending, in the academic year 2010/2011. In the research, data for budget and revolving fund and employment were taken from university documents. A sample of 370 students was selected in proportion to the size of academic units. A survey was developed by the researchers in order to determine the economic contribution that students make to Kastamonu Province. The data was obtained and analysed to identify the direct and indirect contributions of the University of Kastamonu to Kastamonu Province in terms of employment, budget expenditure and revolving fund, and student spending. A simple regression was performed to calculate the extent of stimulation of the local economy by the University of Kastamonu. The data on consumption expenditure of resident households was used to calculate the contribution to gross domestic product, In this study, the total revenue contribution of the University of Kastamonu to Kastamonu Province is 100,374,171 TL. This contribution constists of 17,736, 403 TL from direct revenue and 82,637,768 TL from indirect revenue.
