| This study was carried out to determine the reproductive biology of barbel Barbus plebejus ercisianus from the Kocedilla˜koprü dam lake and its inlets (April-October 2001). The male:female ratio was 1:0.61, with males being dominant. It was determined that males reached sexual maturity after their first year, while females reached their sexual maturity after their second year. Spawning took place most intensively in June. Relative fecundity was 190±25 per cm length, 38±3 per g body weight and 444±37 per g gonad weight. At the start of the spawning season, egg diameter was measured as 1.903±0.009 mm. |
