The Effect of Student-Content Interaction on Students’ Academic Achievement and Attitude towards Science

Özet
The aim of the study was to compare the effects of teaching on academic achievement and science attitudes of students with interactive PowerPoint presentations and non-interactive PowerPoint presentations in terms of teaching the" Electricity Transmission" Unit of the 6th grade Science course. The research was designed as a semi-structured experimental design and consisted of 65 students from the 6th grade of a public secondary school. The participants were separated into two groups as control and the experiment groups. The transmission of electricity unit 20-question academic achievement test and 22-item science attitude scale were used for data collection. Achievement test and attitude scale were applied to the groups as pretest and posttest. In light of the data obtained in the study, it was concluded that the use of interactive PowerPoint presentations in teaching electricity transmission unit to secondary school 6th-grade students increased academic success but did not have the same effect on their attitudes towards science. Students can work on each grade level with interactive PowerPoint presentations according to their own level.
