Özet |
Saproxylic insects play a significant role in biodiversity, forest composition, tree growth, and development, thus directly affecting forest ecosystems and management. Turkey has a very rich insect fauna connected to forests; however, there are still many saproxylic insects, which are unidentified. We made the first record of the saproxylic beetle Cossonus parallelepipedus (Herbst, 1795) in Turkish forests. The beetles were recorded in felled trunks of Kazdağı fir (Abies nordmanniana subsp. equi-trojani [Asch. & Sint. ex Boiss] Coode & Cullen). This study was carried out in the Ilgaz Mountain forest area which is located South-west part of Kastamonu, Turkey, between May and October 2020. The felled Kazdağı fir trees were infected by the fungus fir broom rust (Melampsorella caryophyllacearum Schroet.(M. cerastii (Pers.) Schroet.)). |
