Özet
In this study, the activated carbon was prepared from the pomegranate shell by chemical activation, characterized using BET, FTIR-ATR, XRD, SEM and DTA/TG and investigated the adsorption properties. The adsorption process was studied as a function of initial pH of the methyl violet solutions and temperature. The extent of adsorption was found to be dependent on the aqueous phase pH and solution temperature. Equilibrium isotherms were determined to assess the maximum adsorption capacity of the activated carbon for methyl violet. The experimental data were examined by Langmuir and Freundlich isotherms, and found that the isotherm data were reasonably well correlated by Langmuir isotherm. It was found that adsorption process was endothermic. Adsorption isosteric enthalpy was calculated to be 41.6 kJ/mol.
