Background: In this study, the gender gap between men and women is examined in terms of gender inequality. Aim: The aim of this study is to examine gender inequality in four dimensions according to Global Gender Gap (Economic Participation and Opportunities, Educational Attainment, Health and Survival and Political Empowerment). Another aim of this study is to classify the countries in the geographical region classification made by the World Economic Form according to the Global Gender Gap. Methods: The universe of work consists of 144 countries in East Asia and Pacific, Eastern Europe and Central Asia, Latin America and Caribbean, Middle East and North Africa, North America, South Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa and Western Europe. In this study 14 indicators are used. Hierarchical clustering analysis was utilized in the analysis of the data. Ward technique and square Euclidean distance were used in obtaining clusters. Results: In the study, 50% of the gaps in the economic participation opportunity and educational attainments sub-dimension. It has also been observed that in the health and survival sub-dimension countries have almost completely closed gender gaps and have not closed the gaps of any country in the political empowerment sub-dimension. As a result of the clustering analysis the countries were divided into two groups according to the Global Gender Gap. |
