Özet
Eggs are consumed as human food throughout the world and considered a very nutritious and a cheap source of protein. Most of the eggs produced in the world are presented to consumers as whole shell eggs, table eggs. Eggs can be contaminated with microorganisms both horizontally and vertically, therefore it might be a vector of microorganisms causing foodborne illness in humans. The presence of various foodborne pathogens in the contents and on the shell surface of table eggs soiled with feces was studied in this study. For this purpose, a total of 412 egg samples (206 pooled samples of 2 eggs) were purchased from 16 separate retail locations and analyzed for Salmonella, Campylobacter and Listeria. In the result of the study, Salmonella spp.,Campylobacter spp. and Listeria spp. were detected on the eggshell surfaces samples, 1.45%, 0.97% and 2.42% respectively. Neither of those pathogens was …
