Özet
Cooperative concept means working together. It is accepted as an important enterprise for villagers who are living in the rural areas and are out of phase with the market conditions. Cooperative trading system in the rural areas can be developed or improved by joining the limited and scattered facilities and possibilities. It is a common belief for cooperatives that higher productivity and profits can be attained with less investment. In spite of strong support, the expected results from the activities of cooperative trading systems in forest villages were not attained. This situation made it necessary that the cooperatives and the environment with more realistic approach and they should prepare themselves more in the future. In this study, the SWOT method was used to analyse Agricultural Development Cooperatives working in the forest villages in Maçka, Turkey. Two meetings were arranged and actions were planned with 11 cooperative managers and members. For Maçka Agricultural Development Cooperatives, there were 9 strengths, 11 weaknesses, 7 opportunities, and 7 threats confirmed. The most effective strength was tax advantage, while the weakest was low employment possibilities. The greatest opportunity was growth and supporting tourism in Maçka by new arrangements, while the most threatening factor was running out of conviction in the direction of growth and development.
