| A fundamental means of scientific communication are the peer reviewed articles published mainly in scientific journals and their abstracts. The abstract is a critical indicator of scientificity of an academic article, and a strategic tool enabling the decision of what to and whether to read the full text of an article or not. A qualitative abstract has to contain some basic information. It has been observed that abstracts of two major journals -Turkish Librarianship (TL) and Information World (IW)- which contribute to the improvement of Library and Information Science literature in Turkey do not meet the abstract requirements. This study, aims to determine the tendency and attitudes regarding the abstract writing in these two journals.
