Özet
Sex determination in trout is generally performed by measuring morphologic features during the reproductive period. In this study, body height and weight, total length, fork length, adipose fin length and width, and head length were measured during the non-reproductive period, and discriminant and Chi-Square Automatic Interaction Detector (CHAID) analysis methods were used to determine which of these features are most effective in sex determination. Discriminant and CHAID analyses produced similar outcomes and accurately grouped original data in the correct sex group in 85.7% and 89.3% of the cases, respectively. According to both analysis methods, the most significant morphologic feature in determining sex was adipose fin width and other variables were not very important in sex determination. In conclusion, the width of the adipose fin could be an important tool in broodstock management.
