Özet
Periparturient period in cows is defined the period that includes 3 weeks before and after from the parturition. This study aimed to investigate trace elements levels, metabolic and hormone profiles of male and female calf bearing cows in periparturient period. In the present study, 20 pregnant Brown Swiss (4-5 years old, 500-550 kg weighing) cows were used as animal material. Blood samples were collected on prepartum 21 th day. Randomly selected nine of the cows were selected as the control group (C) after parturition and 21 days later from parturition blood samples were collected. Blood glucose, urea, cholesterol, creatinin, some minerals, and FSH, LH, Progesterone (P4) of the samples were evaluated. According to birth records samples 11 cows were detected as male calf bearing (MCB) and nine cows were detected as female calf bearing (FCB). In prepartum 21th day, urea levels of MCB group were statistically higher than the C and FCB group (P>0.05). Calcium (Ca) level of MCB group was statistically higher than the C group (P>0.05). Alternatively, glucose, sodium (Na), chlorine (Cl), and P4 levels of MCB and FCB groups were statistically higher than the C group. Cholesterol levels of MCB and FCB groups statistically lower then the C group. However there was no statistically difference among three groups for creatinin, Potassium (K), phosphor (P), Magnesium (Mg), Ferrum (Fe), FSH, and LH levels.
