Özet |
Acute benign myositis of childhood is a clinical picture that usually develops after viral infections, occurs with symmetrical calf pain and sudden inability to walk, self-healing and associated with creatine kinase (CK) elevation. In the acute period, physicians and their parents may be in a difficult situation with the child's walking difficulties and pain. This disease, which is not common, should be well known by primary care and paediatrics specialist doctors as it can be confused with Guillain-Barré syndrome and should be distinguished from other clinical pictures. Despite high CK levels, our patient was cured without developing acute renal failure with appropriate hydration and close clinical follow-up and responded quickly to methylprednisolone treatment within 24 hours. Our case is presented in order to prevent early diagnosis, to prevent unnecessary examination and inappropriate treatment in cases with childhood acute benign myositis with clinical and laboratory findings. |
