Özet
Ardabil city, which take a special place in the medieval history of Azerbaijan, always was under the focus of attention because of its strategic importance and material wealth. In the first quarter of XIII century this city twice was attacked. Primarily Georgian Army and then Mongol-Tatar troops massacred, plundered and destroyed it. Our article is devoted to the attack of Georgian Army to Ardabil. This attack occurred in Ramadan Holiday of 607 AH (29 Mart 1210) and resulted with the death of thousands of civilians. At that time crusader spirit, which was propagated by Catholic Church, even affected Eastern Christians, which were not under the orders of Pope. Owing to damages of Safavid ancestors in these events, even centuries later Safavid chronicles gave a wide place to Ardabil massacre and Safavid shahs used this tragedy as a slogan for revenge in their campaigns to Georgia.
