Özet
The patients, the elderly and disabled people (with physical and/or psychological limits because of their ages or disabilities) constitute a substantial part of society. Library and library services are known to play therapeutic roles in their lives. Therefore, either as a branch of a public library or independently, the libraries should endeavour to develop services for their needs, taking into account the special conditions and circumstances of the patients, the elderly and the disabled. The latest version of these guidelines was published and compiled by a working group lead by Nancy Mary Panella in 2000 and it aimed to identify the essential features of such services and to provide suggestions tailored to local needs and circumstances. This paper is the translation of the aforementioned guidelines.
