Özet
This paper aims to report the results of an investigation carried out in Iranian steel industries to reuse the spent magnesia-graphite refractory bricks. It was clarified that about 70% of scraps could be recycled successfully. The impacts of environmental protections were also found to be very significant. The paper will also explain the evaluation of the properties of the recycled refractories for industrial applications. The spent bricks from EAF and LF furnaces were analysed in term of microstructural changes from hot zone to the cold end to evaluate the changes in texture and chemical composition. Different compositions based on recycled aggregates and various particle size distributions were tested.
