Özet
Modification of properties of alumina spinel castable refractories via particle size distribution is the main goal of the present work. The effects of particle size distribution on casting characteristics have been investigated for low cement alumina spinel refractory castables. Due to the simple form, the equation given by Andreassen was used to outline the criteria of a castable with self flow behavior. It was found that to obtain a good flow behavior; a castable should have more of the fine fraction. Also it has been found that the particle size distribution of the finest fraction is very important to the rheological behavior of castables.
