Özet
Tundish lining materials were prepared using sintered magnesias (91-97% MgO) with additions of micronised silica, calcium phosphate, organic additives and with cellulose fibre and polystyrene beads to increase porosity. Dried specimens were fired to 1200-1600 C. The fired materials were characterised by measurements of density, cold crushing strength, and by microstructural studies. It was concluded that magnesia containing at least 97% MgO, containing calcium phosphate binders and fired to 1600 C, was of sufficiently high strength to use as a tundish thermal insulating lining. 11 refs.
