An evaluation on the properties of magnesia insulating refractories for tundish coating at different temperatures

Özet
With improving significance of continuous casting process in steel making, its refractories quality, is more in attention accordingly. In this study, three compositions of tundish lining wear mixes based on difference in magnesia purity were disclosed. Also the effect of sintering temperature on physical, mechanical, microstructure and phase properties of samples were investigated. After preparing the samples with designed compositions and measuring their properties, it is clarified that using high purity magnesia with Min. 97 weight percent with mono calcium phosphate as a binder leads to superior properties specially after sintering at 1600°C.
