Özet |
This study examined the skills of Turkish prospective teachers to model fractional addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division operations. Research sample consisted of 170 prospective teachers that attended the departments of mathematics teaching at three state universities in Turkey in the 2011-2012 academic year. Nonexperimental descriptive research method was employed. Prospective teachers were asked to find the results of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of two fractions through modeling. Then, the modeling activities performed by prospective teachers were examined in detail. It was concluded that the prospective teachers had low skill levels in modeling multiplication and division of two fractions in particular. |
