Özet |
Location of Turkey on the World (on the northern hemisphere, mid-latitudes and peninsula) effects general distribution of plant cover. However another important feature of plant geography of Turkey has mountainous areas and rugged terrain. Mountainous areas cover the largest part of Turkey. Physiographic features of mountainous areas have variability at very short distances. The variability affects microclimate conditions, plant diversity and distribution. For this reason, the large number of endemic species which are important for biodiversity spread on mountainous areas. During the past geological periods, due to changing ecological conditions, major mountain ranges of Turkey have enabled plant migrations and the isolation. Conditions of high and rugged terrain, due to distance and transportation difficulties have been limited anthropogenic degradation. In this study examined the role of mountainous areas on plant diversity and ecological factors of Turkey. |
