| Özet |
| “Sustainable development” is one of the development models addressed after the second half of the twentieth century, including the economic and social development of countries, the management of environmental policies and some social dimensions. The concept of sustainable development can be examined by various indicators such as the increase in real incomes per capita of countries, improvement in health and nutritional status, educational achievements, access to resources and increase in basic freedoms. The basic requirements for sustainable development are the necessity to examine health, environment and sustainable development together. For this reason, the aim of the study is to examine the relationship between sustainable development and health. The universe of work is consisting of 133 countries, according to income classification of the World Bank (WB), the upper-middle and upper-income group. Research variables include annual population growth, GDP, school enrollment rates (primary and secondary), the percentage of access to improved water resources, added value (percentage of GDP) of agriculture, industry, services, etc., employment to population ratio and labor force participation rate. The health variables of the study are life expectancy at birth, health expenditures, fertility rate, crude death rate, crude birth rate and infant mortality rate. Canonical correlation method was used in the analysis of the data. As a result of the analysis, a strong and meaningful relationship (rc = 0.75) was observed between sustainable development and health. It is believed that the results obtained are important in terms of a holistic assessment of the health and economic interaction of the economic and social structure that is important in the development of countries. |
