| Despite increasing curiosity in digitalization and its advantages, there has not been a clear comprehension of digital transformation in tourism. This book chapter makes a considerable contribution to fill this knowledge void through reviewing the fields where digitalization study has appeared and the related fundamental concepts. Adopting a hermeneutic method, this study first discusses how the tourism industry can achieve a sustainable digital transformation. Next, the discussion argues that a digital transformation needs to consider sociocultural, environmental, and economic sustainability in a tourist destination. The conceptual framework also proposes transformative experiences for the main stakeholders, namely, tourists, residents, and practitioners.
