Özet
World population increases with each passing day, and limited natural resources remain insufficient in meeting the herbal product needs of the population. Science world is closely interested in this subject and carries out many studies for the solution of the problem (Sevik et al., 2012; Kalayci, 2010; Sonmez et al., 2014). It is primarily required to protect and increase the existing production areas to meet the herbal material needs of the increasing population (Karahalil et al., 2011; Kadiogullari et al., 2013; Kucuk and Unal, 2011; Ozcan et al., 2016), and making especially arid and semi-arid areas appropriate for production is a priority in this respect (Eken and Oner, 2017; Oner et al., 2015; Ertugrul et al., 2014). It is utterly essential especially to make arid and semi-arid areas suitable for production by determining drought-resistant plants that can be grown in arid and semi-arid areas where it is quite hard to grow plants, that have been left idle so far (Sevik and Cetin, 2015; Yigit et al., 2016a, b). Therefore, plants with a high potential to grow in arid areas are among the priority research subjects. Lavender is an important perfume, cosmetic and medicinal plant cultivated around the world due to its high content and high quality of essential oil. Each year, $1.9-2.0 Billion (USD) of essential oil is exported around the world, and approximately $50 Million of this amount makes up lavender oil. Furthermore, the easy development of this plant in unproductive, barren lands not suitable for agricultural production and that it does not require water make lavender production attractive. Due to this feature, lavender is a plant that is suitable to be grown in arid and semi …
