Özet
Firefighters face physically demanding activities due to the necessity of the profession. Search and rescue work, fire response, traffic accidents … All is done while wearing heavy personal protective equipment. Firefighters must be physically fit to perform all these tasks. The health-related components of physical fitness are muscle strength, muscle endurance, flexibility and cardiorespiratory endurance. A firefighter must have a relatively high level of cardiorespiratory compliance in order to perform his / her professional duties in a safe and effective manner. The aim of this study is to evaluate and improve the firearm department students in terms of cardiorespiratory health in order to provide physical preparation. Within the scope of the study, the individuals in the control group were subjected to specific training and exercises 3 days a week in terms of cardiorespiratory suitability in order to provide professional skills and requirements to the individuals in the research group while they were performing the sports lessons one day a week in their curriculum. A total of 29 students from Civil Defense and Firefighting Department; participated in the study, 15 of which were in research and 14 of which were control group. The average age of the students, the research group and the control group, respectively 19.6-18.2, the average weight of 67.94-68.9. the average of B.K.İ was found to be 22.38-21.8. According to the shuttle test results of the research group, there was a significant difference between VO2 max pre and post test measurements (p <0.005). According to respiratory test results, there was a significant difference between FVC,FEV1 and FEV1/FVC and pre test and post measurements. The accurate assessment of aerobic capacity of firefighters working in physically demanding jobs such as fire fighting,is significiantly important for them to fulfill their professional duties and physical abilities..For this reason, it is very important to improve the cardiorespiratory resistance of the firefighters during their training periods and to ensure their physical fitness to the profession and to prevent future accidents and occupational diseases.-dimensions.
