| Determination of urban development directions and causes will provide useful information to decision-makers for urban planning. This study aims to determine the developmental aspects of Adapazarı, the central district of the Sakarya province, after the 1999 earthquake. In this regard, satellite images of 2000, 2005, 2010, and 2017 were used to determine the temporal and spatial developmental aspects of the city and the factors affecting this development. The ERDAS IMAGINE 2014 software was used in all phases of the processing of the satellite images. The ArcGIS 10.2 software was used to display reference maps for accuracy analysis and prepare output maps. Land use was determined using the generalized first level (level I) classification method developed by Anderson et al. (1976).
