| Özet |
| SMb belongs to Sanguisorba genus in the family Rosaceae. It is an edible, perennial herb with pinnate leaves and reddish-greenflowers and widely distributed all around the world. It is known as a medicinal plant and has been used for treatment or prevention of a large range of diseases such as diarrhea, hemorrhoids, goiter and gastric problems. Apart from these traditional use, it is noteworthy that the usage of SMb for relieving of inflammation. These therapeutic effects of SMb could be explained by the presence of its polyphenolic and flavonoid content.Inflammation plays a central role in the pathogenesis of various disorders such as rheumatoid arthritis, cancer, diabetes, obesity, cardiovascular complications etc. For this reason inflammation has been studied universally in an attempt to combat its deleterious effects on the human body and to find new therapeutic approaches. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs are basic therapeutical agents for current treatment approach. Though these drugs have some adverse effects on gastrointestinal and cardiovascular system [1]. Recent research aims to discover long-acting anti-inflammatory drugs with minimal side effects. Sanguisorba minor subsp. Balearica (Smb) is known as a medicinal plant and has been used for treatment of various disorders. The usage of Smb for relieving of inflammation is noteworthy [2, 3, 4]. This study aims to invastigate possible cytokine mediated anti-inflammatory effects of (Smb) on arthritic rats. |
