Özet |
The current study aimed to evaluate digital stories prepared by early childhood teacher candidates based on the aspects of technological competency, mathematical content, and pedagogy. The methodology adopted in the current study was a case study. The study was limited to the examination of the digital stories based on their technical qualities, mathematical contents and pedagogical aspects. A total 13 teacher candidates (in their fourthyear in university) from Early Childhood Teaching Program was participant of the study. Among the results of the study was that overall technological scores of the digital stories prepared by the early childhood teacher candidates have found sufficient while their weaknesses were evident in the criteria of choice of content and dramatic question. The study also indicated that most of the digital stories aimed to be used during teaching of the subject while few of them applied as warm-up activities or reinforcement at the end of the lesson. Moreover, majority of the digital stories had presented a weak compatibility with the related early childhood curriculum since they did not cover the stated behavior completely and/or include a scientific mistake. Further studies investigating teachers’ experiences of implementing digital stories inside the classroom environment would also be beneficiary to reinforce the results obtained in this study. |
