English Objective: Investigation of the relationship between diastolic dysfunction and blood pressure variability (BPV) in patients with primary hypertension. Material and Method: A total of 221 patients (156 women, 65 men) over the age of 18 who were diagnosed with primary hypertension at our clinic were included in this study. The BPV was calculated using the average real variability (ARV) index. Results: Compared to the patients with diastolic dysfunction (-), patients with diastolic dysfunction (+) were found to have higher 24-h systolic ARV (12.51±2.8 vs 11.65±3.5; p= 0.043, respectively) and higher left ventricular mass index (LVMI)(91.33±19.2 vs 85.64±20.2; p= 0.037, respectively). The multivariable logistic regression analysis revealed the usage of renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system blockers and 24-hour systolic ARVs as independent predictors of diastolic dysfunction. Conclusion: In conclusion, we found … |
