| In the post-colonial period, the concept of Islamic economics entered the agenda of scientific circles; the International Islamic Economics Congress was held in 1976, universities providing education in Islamic economics were established, academic refereed journals accepting publications on Islamic economics were published, and academic studies were conducted. The inadequacy of capitalism and socialism in solving economic problems has increased interest in Islamic economics. Interest in Islamic economics further grew during the 2008 global crisis as Islamic banks proved more successful. The increasing interest in Islamic economics brings to the agenda the similarities and differences of Islamic economics with Capitalism and Socialism.
