| essential elements for decomposers, animals and plants. It is also a common metal. Therefore, it is important to determine Na accumulation in wood, which is the largest organ of trees with long life span and large biomass. In this study, the changes of Na in ash (Fraxinus excelsior) trunk organs, which are widely used in landscape studies, were evaluated on the basis of organ, direction and period. As a result of the study, it was determined that Na concentrations in the outer bark were higher than those in the inner bark and wood. While the highest values in the outer bark were obtained in the northern direction where urbanization and traffic are intense, it was determined that Na concentrations in the wood generally varied within a narrow range. These results can be interpreted that Na pollution in air is probably caused by urban areas and traffic and Fraxinus excelsior, the subject of the study, is not a suitable biomonitor for monitoring the change of Na pollution in air. |
