| Descriptive and relational type of research was conducted to investigate of home accidents in elderly according to cognitive situation and related factors. The study was conducted on individuals aged 65 years or older who applied to the Family Health Center (n= 133). In the collection of the data, the questionnaire including descriptive characteristics of elderly individuals and the Standardized Mini Mental Test for cognitive status evaluation were used. In study, 27.1% of the elderly reported that they had been had home accident at least once during the past year. The elderly of 72.2% who had a domestic accident experienced a fall accident. The majority (81.2%) had normal cognitive function and no significant difference was found in the cases of home accident according to the Mini Mental Test scores (p> 0.05). As a result; when we look at the p values of Odss ratio in our study;“Age group”,“disability status”,“body mass index”,“forgetfulness” variables had a statistically significant effect on the home accidents of the elderly (p< 0.05). |
