Özet
Elaiussa Sebaste, whose foundation and development stages we can follow from the Hellenistic period up to the 7th century AD, is an important port city in Cilicia Tracheia. During the Late Roman-Early Byzantine period of the city which begins at the end of the 4th century AD we witness an extensive trade activity as in the Roman Period. This process was also influenced by the city's production of LR 1 amphoras, which are thought to carry wine and olive oil. Because of the political events of the era, Elaiussa Sebaste maintained its trade activities with many different centres ranging from Syria-Palestine to Africa and Egypt and from the Aegean to the Black Sea region. By means of the amphorae in question, we aim to reveal Elaiussa Sebaste's trade connections with the Black Sea region in the Late Roman-Early Byzantine period.
