| The aim of this study was to investigate the diagnostic and prognostic significance of serum collectin-11, surfactant protein A (SP-A) and D (SP-D), and acute phase protein levels in horses with respiratory system disease. In the present study, 18 horses that were clinically healthy constituted the control group (Group I), while 18 horses with respiratory system problems formed the disease group (Group II). Group II's Cl-11 concentration on day 0 [2.05 (1.51-2.76) μg/mL] and day 7 [1.57 (1.30-3.04) μg/mL] was compared to that of Group I [0.63 (0.44-2.09) μg/mL] significantly increased (P=0.027, P=0.027). Group II's SP-D concentration on day 0 (P=0.012), day 7 (P=0.004) and day 14 (P=0.014) was found to be significantly higher than Group I's SP-D concentration.
