| This study has been carried out to define the level of depression in nurses. The macrocosm of the study has been comprised by all nurses employed at Dr. Kastamonu Münif İslamoğlu State Hospital whereas the microcosm is centred upon nurses who volunteered to participate in the study (n: 150). A descriptive form analysing the nurses and Beck Depression Scale (BDS) consisting of 21 items have been used. In the evaluation of the data numbers, percentage, average, standard deviation, Mann Whitney-U Test and Kruskal-Wallis Test have been applied to. The average level of depression in women between the ages 26-36, in the ones with high school education, in nurses having been working for 16-20 years and the married ones have been determined to be high. Average point of depression in nurses has been defined to be moderate (28, 45±8, 19). There is a significant relationship between gender and BDS. It shall be beneficial to study the level of depression in female nurses at regular intervals both for the health of the employees and the quality of the care addressed to the patients. |
